Today, Danish artist releases her new album, ‘Jazz Dreams’, via Escho.
Fine road-tested the album over the course of a year and a half; early versions of songs appeared during Fine’s live performances, while alternate forms and demos surfaced throughout her NTS residency.
The finished album embraces this sense of movement and mutability, blurring the lines between genres, eras, and emotional states. There’s a cinematic grandeur to the 13-track album, but also an emotional closeness, which moves from jazz collages, ’70s radio-rock excursions, and minimalist folk passages.
Self-produced by Fine, the narrative arc of the album isn’t uniform or linear. Instead it’s presented through fragments, reverie, and a free-associative style.
Fine says:“Making records, it is not linear. Something is thrown into a room, and the bizarre is simply accepted, without ever feeling strange. You surrender to the dream’s own logic. It’s cruel, but it’s also freeing.”
‘Jazz Dreams’ follows 2024 debut ‘Rocky Top Ballads’. Fine will perform a headline show at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on March 11th.
With the album comes a new music video for ‘Get In’, directed by Louise Le Meur.
