Feist – known for her work with Broken Social Scene as well as six influential solo records – was inducted by Grammy-winning producer and musician Finneas. “Leslie is so many of your favourite artists’ favourite artist,” he said. “I know, I’ve talked to all of them about her. She has the most beautiful voice I can imagine a person having and writes lyrics and melodies that have moved me to tears and made my wife and I dance in our kitchen for years.”

The musical tribute featured Toronto singer-songwriter Charlotte Cornfield opening with “How Come You Never Go There” from Feist's 2011 album , followed by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy performing “The Park” from 2007's . Feist sang on the Wilco track “You And I” back in 2009. She also sang with Cornfield on “Living With It” from Cornfield’s latest album . (You can check out our feature on that here.) The tribute closed with Finneas’s rendition of “My Moon My Man”. The cover was released in advance of the ceremony as an Amazon Music Original.

The ceremony also honoured Ontario roots rock band The Tragically Hip, Mike Reno and Paul Dean of the Calgary pop-rock band Loverboy, and singer-songwriter Roch Voisine.

The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame was founded in 1998. Feist joins around 90 inducted songwriters including Leonard Cohen, Alanis Morissette, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell.
