Alongside the announcement, Peeters shares "Come what it may, the bitter and the grey", a track which unfolds with drums and strings played by violinist Joolie Wood, the album's only outside collaborator, and "Kyrie", which he made while imagining being dropped into the middle of a six-lane highway at night.

On the album, Eterna moves away from the more immediate, dense nature of earlier releases and towards a more expansive sound defined by stripped-back, spacious arrangements. "Silence for me means, 'I am not in a rush,'" Peeters notes.
