Emmerdale airs Sarah Sugden and DS Thea Ramsden twist in early ITVX release

Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) has dealt a warning to DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) in Emmerdale.

It comes following the death of Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker), who was pushed by Sarah onto the corner of a coffee table in August. The surgeon had blackmailed, and later sexually assaulted her grandmother Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who decided to take responsibility for the manslaughter.

This decision was stemmed for her guilt towards Sarah, who was raising a child that wasn't her own. While trying to act as surrogate, Charity fell pregnant with her own daughter, and then handed it over to Sarah.

Just minutes after Todd's fatal fall, Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) stumbled across the womens' predicament. Using her skills as a former police officer, she helped Charity stage a fake altercation, dragging the deceased's nails through her arm.

Later, a deal was struck between Serena and Thea, who was looking for some dirt on her birth mother Kim Tate (Claire King). Serena agreed to continue digging if she was able to try and help Charity's situation.

However, not everything went to plan. After Sarah learnt about Charity's lies concerning baby Leyla, she raced to the police station and asked to change her statement. She told Thea that she was certain Charity had purposely killed Todd.

Just days later, she went back on her statement again due to pressure from her family. It's now looking increasingly likely that Charity could spend a long time behind bars.

In today's episode, Sarah went to Emmerdale Farm to discuss her predicament with Serena. She promised that the matter was in hand, though that she had potentially jeopardised things by changing her statement so many times.

Sarah then caught her cousin chatting with Thea, and questioned her involvement and why they were so pally. Serena was forced to come clean, admitting that they'd been working together to try and get the best possible outcome for Charity.

Serena then turned quite vicious, saying that Sarah had messed the whole situation up and that both she and Thea had put their jobs on the line to help her.

It's safe to say that Thea wasn't best pleased either. Later that day, she turned up at David's Shop and confronted Sarah, who asserted that she was ready to reveal all. In her eyes, she's lost everything already.

Thea asked her to consider what that would mean for herself - after all, the fact was Todd's killer would soon come to light.

What will Sarah do?
