Ogier started writing songs during the pandemic, releasing her first single "First Base" in 2023, which has been followed by a series of single releases over the past few years, including "Rocksteady/HeavyMetal made in collaboration with Eden Joel, and "Keep You", both of which appear on . Alongside the announcement, "Hands Tied" lands as the latest preview of the collection of songs.
was produced by David Baron, and sees Ogier addressing the costs and sacrifices that come with leading a creative life, as well as learning to trust herself while navigating through moments of confusion. "What struck us immediately about Emma is how completely herself she is," say Robert Knotts and Jake Gear, EVP and Co-Heads of Lost Highway Records. "Her songs are intimate and deeply human, but there's also a restless creative spirit behind them. She isn't interested in fitting neatly into a genre or following a prescribed path, which is exactly what we admire most about her."
In addition to releasing her first full-length work, Ogier is set to make her Austin City Limits Festival debut on 3 October and support Hovvdy on the first leg of their North American tour. She will also join Joshua Slone at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on 4 November, and in January 2027 will join Bright Eyes for their two-night stand at Brooklyn Paramount in New York City — following summer performances with the band during the 21st anniversary shows for I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn.
