Elton John Confirms ‘Rock Of The Westies’ 50th Anniversary Edition

will release a 50th anniversary edition of his album ‘Rock Of The Westies’.

Originally released in October 1975, ‘Rock Of The Westies’ taps into a whirlwind 12 months in the life of Elton John. That year alone, the UK icon headlined Wembley Stadium, released two studio albums, and compiled his era-defining concerts at Dodger Stadium.

Following the success of ‘Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy’ – released only five months earlier – ‘Rock Of The Westies’ presents Elton and band at their most lithe, electrifying, and telepathic.

Revisited for its 50th anniversary, Elton comments: “I had forgotten how good some of the tracks were and how good some of the piano playing was. It just rocks! I love it! It was a fun record to make.”

Calling the album “the most genuine rock and roll record that I’ve ever made”, ‘Rock Of The Westies’ has been spruced up for its milestone birthday, available on 2LP, 2CD, 1LP, and digitally, you can pre-order it now.

Album cut ‘Street Kids’ has been shared, alongside a note from Elton:

“I listened to the whole album again this year, stripped back to just the piano and vocals. On “Street Kids” there is a single, long piano riff throughout the whole song. And there’s absolutely not a single mistake on there. After all these years, I am still very proud of the quality of the musicianship on this record.”

Tune in now.

‘Rock Of The Westies’ will be re-issued on November 20th.
