Dog Eyes Share Raw Alt-Folk Piece ‘sink’

Bay Area duo have shared their new single ‘sink’ in full.

The songwriting pairing – and – are based in the Bay Area, and tap into alt-folk sounds from a deeply individual angle. Signed to Grand Jury back in 2024, the group released an EP last year with the evocative, zen-like title ‘blue bird rain cloud’.

New song ‘sink’ is out now, and it’s framed by autumnal energies. The crisp, slightly raw production offers something distinctive, with the organic, folk-hewn tones reminiscent of band-of-the-moment @ but with their own West Coast twist.

Indeed, ‘sink’ does feel very redolent of the Bay Area – perhaps a cliche to describe it as breezy, but it blends counter-cultural conduits with something personal, and highly evocative.

Backed by a video directed by Clayton Stansberry, the duo say of the song –

‘sink’ reckons with how hope can keep you in the wrong place for a long time. “Wish I could say a hundred reasons why, I love you. Wish I could say you’re more than rain and stars above you,” but it crescendos with, “I can’t lie to you, babe.” We can wish those things till the sun goes down but that does not make them true.

Tune in now.
