corto.alto returns on September 4th with new album ‘SOME SMALL FORTUNE’, and it finds the Scottish jazz-rooted composer extending his creative vision with the input of an array of guests.
Chicago wordsmith appears on the lead single, while reflective new release ‘NOBLEHILL’ features the empathetic vocals of .
The Mercury nominated, BRIT winning songwriter adds something truly special to corto.alto’s dextrous production, moving from opaque electronics through to something more club aligned.
It feels like a true collaboration, with each pushing the other to a different space. “I wanted to write songs with artists that I love and have a proper collaboration with them, rather than be a control freak,” corto.alto says. “That’s why I reached out to someone like the amazing Scottish songwriter Jacob Alon, and Mick Jenkins, who I’ve listened to forever, as well as a shapeshifter like BINA… I’m entering a different world with this music.”
Out now, the song comes equipped with a video that taps into its reflective nature – childhood pictures of corto.alto are gradually cut up, revealing the process behind the album artwork design.
