There was a shock reveal concerning Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) in Monday's (7 September) Coronation Street, after the character endured a particularly difficult day.
The police detective was seen in turmoil at home, while a mystery figure headed out the door after an apparent night of passion.
The episode largely followed Kit as he went about his day, and at the hospital, he was tasked with taking a statement from a young man named Luke Cookson, who had been the victim of an assault.
We then saw Kit in the Kabin, where mum Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) invited him to Debbie Webster's (Sue Devaney) birthday party.
At the station, Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) mithered Kit and asked him to return to the hospital to get more information from Luke on his attacker.
Once there, Kit overheard a doctor breaking the news to Luke's mother that he had died.
Thrown, Kit made his way to a personal appointment, in which he was informed that he had stage three breast cancer.
A nurse was on hand to offer support, but Kit was stunned and in disbelief as he pointed out that breast cancer usually happened to women.
The surgeon explained that while breast cancer is less common in men, it does happen, and Kit would need a CT scan, followed by a mastectomy and possibly chemotherapy.
Actor Roberts gave a powerful performance, accurately showcasing how overwhelming it is to receive such life-changing news.
Kit next headed to the Rovers, where Debbie's party was in full swing.
In emotional scenes portrayed beautifully by Devaney, Debbie gave a moving speech about her love for husband Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), and about being surrounded by love during her battle with dementia.
Listening in, Kit struggled to cope as he headed out for some air.
Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) noticed something was wrong, and eventually coaxed Kit into confiding in him.
But Kit refused his advice to tell his loved ones, not feeling able to blow Bernie's world apart as she awaits the results of her BRCA gene test.
As Todd promised to be there for him, Kit brushed him off and ended up meeting Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in a dark alley.
There, we learned that the pair had slept together the night before!
Bethany knows this is a mammoth betrayal of her incarcerated mum Sarah (Tina O'Brien), who still loves Kit but dumped him to protect him.
