Class is in session at Champion Academy

is heading back to school for its latest campaign. Titled ‘Academy’, the collection focuses on collegiate essentials with a fine blend of sporty cool and preppy classics. Rooted in classic Americana, the collection marks a return to Champion’s foundational years, reimagining classic pieces through a contemporary lens.

Classic shirting, knitwear and denim pieces build a wardrobe of casual everyday essentials inspired by vintage Ivy League Style. Relaxed, cosy silhouettes pair sporty rugby and polo shirts with straight leg trousers and tailored blazers and skirts for a preppy and polished finish.

“Our ambition is to reconnect a younger audience with Champion’s heritage. There’s a real appetite for analogue culture and nostalgia, and few brands have a history as rich and authentic as ours. The challenge has been how we tell that story. We’ve too often presented our heritage as something to look back on. Now, we’re inviting a new generation to reinterpret it through their own style and perspective, while staying rooted in the world Champion has been building for a century,” said Stephen Lowry, Champion Brand Director.

The clothes are made from substantial fabrics, utilising acrylic wool for heavier knits and fleece and thick denim for cosy, autumnal pieces. Champion’s classic fleece styles are present in hooded and crew neck sweatshirts, half-zips and elastic cuff pants.

Academy follows Together, Future Memories as the second chapter in Champion’s new back to school series. Where Together, Future Memories staged a fictional high school reminiscent of a 90s teen movie, Academy feels like the mature, older sibling. The colour palette feels mature and luxurious, pairing rich navy and soft heather grey with burgundy accents and fluorescent yellows and greens.
