Chvrches announce first album in nearly six years ‘All The King’s Men’ along with 2027 UK, Ireland and North America tour

Chvrches have announced ‘All The King’s Men’ – their first album in nearly six years – as well as a 2027 tour across the UK, Ireland and North America.

Set to arrive on January 22, 2027, the fifth album from Chvrches will be their first since they dropped ‘Screen Violence’ in 2021. Visit here to pre-order.

Featuring the recently released single ‘Roses’, the album comes after the trio of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, took a pause following their 2023 tour and vowed to embrace a new musical approach when they returned.

While ‘Screen Violence’ was written remotely, ‘All The King’s Men’ saw the the Scottish synth-pop stars write and record over multiple intense three-week stints in Glasgow, where they embraced experimentation.

The end result is 11 songs that explore the culture and history of Britain and Scotland, which the trio have delved into after spending years in the US.

For Doherty, this approach came after he frequently returned to Scotland to spend time with his mother, and found himself inspired by filmmakers like Ken Loach, and British artists like Massive Attack, Siouxsie & The Banshees, who never shied away from tackling social issues.

This was paired with the new songwriting approach of Cook, who was still living in Scotland and started to move away from electronica and embrace acoustic instruments, inspired by Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and Incredible String Band.

The ‘All The King’s Men’ tracklist is:

1. ‘Roses’
2. ‘Evil’
3. ‘Adore You’
4. ‘Overthinker’
5. ‘Royal Blue’
6. ‘Comedown Tomorrow’
7. ‘Friend Of A Friend’
8. ‘Three Out Of Five’
9. ‘Conman’
10. ‘Jamie’s Prayer’
11. ‘Faith In Flying’

While it has not been officially released yet, Chvrches did debut ‘Conman’, during their set at Robert Smith’s Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall gig series earlier this year. The song opened with a pulsing, industrial bass, as Mayberry sang: “A man made for the microphone fills my pockets full of stones / All of his wives, all of his nine lives dance on the edge of a knife.”

The band are set to play an intimate homecoming show in Glasgow and another in London next week, with all proceeds going to charity. Now they have announced a full tour across the UK, Ireland and North America.

Dates kick off in Philadelphia in February, and include stops in Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles and more over the following month. The tour then heads across the pond in April and May, and includes a headline show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on May 6.

Tickets go on sale on October 30 at 10am local time, and pre-sale tickets are available from October 27. Visit here for tickets.

Back in summer summer, Chvrches hinted at a new album on the way, and Doherty and Scott later told that fans could expect it to be “the most fearless record” they have ever made.

“It’s going to surprise people, and I hope it’s going to delight them and rip some faces off,” Doherty revealed, also adding that it was 90 per cent complete. “It’s quite hard, but not to the point where you won’t recognise the band. It’s still the same people and DNA.”

Since their last album dropped, Mayberry released her debut solo LP ‘Vicious Creatures’ in December 2024.

As for Doherty and Cook, the former joined forces with Chvrches drummer Jonny Scott to launch the rave-indebted project The Leaving earlier this year, while the latter teamed up with Scott Paterson formerly of Sons & Daughters in 2022 to launch the project Protection.
