Chiedu Oraka Shares New Single ‘Damned’

has shared his new single ‘Damned’.

The Hull artist has enjoyed an incredible run, with The Streets taking him out on the road, and Coldplay personally booking him as support.

New EP ‘Kwechiri’ will be released on November 18th, and it finds the hip-hop artist broadening his scope.

New single ‘Damned’ is punchy, a message that illustrates Chiedu will forever assert his self-worth. The song goes: “I don’t ask for respect / It’s something I command”.

The video is a powerful watch, which unflinchingly depicts racial profiling in the face of the police force.

The shoot contains a subtle tribute to  who died in police custody in Hull in 1998; the case was pronounced an unlawful killing and and became a landmark moment in the UK’s civil rights movement.

Introducing the video, Chiedu comments…

‘Damned’ is another new lane for me. The sound is smooth and my delivery is softer, but the bars are still punchy and potent.

There’s a lot of live instrumentation in there too, which gives the track a different feel, but I think it really works. Ben Foden led on production, he’s very talented and it’s been great to build on that relationship, it was also great to work with Oliver Rees again and bring his influence into the track. It still feels like a very northern collaboration and close to home. I hope everyone enjoys listening to ‘Damned’ as much as I enjoyed making it.

Tune in now.
