Cardiff art-rock group Why Horses? have shared plans for their new EP ‘These Hands’.

The band upend convention, blending everything from jungle breaks to post-punk bass lines amid a melange of lyrical influences.

Working with tastemaker imprint Brace Yourself Records, new EP ‘These Hands’ lands on October 16th.

New single ‘Cat’s Cradle’ is an insight into their daring sonic brew – there’s a ravey feel to the percussion, while the lyrics from channel the titular Kurt Vonnegut novel.

Throw in an elastic bass line worthy of Gang of Four or Tom Tom Club and ‘Cat’s Cradle’ emerges as a piercing slice of art-rock bedlam.

“At its core, ‘Cat’s Cradle’ is about rejecting absurdism,” explains guitarist and singer . “I wrote it after reading Cat’s Cradle by Vonnegut which explores lots of absurdist ideas. I loved the book but I’ve always hated absurdism because being brought up Christian, I’ve always believed that everything has a purpose. I’ve also struggled a lot with this belief though, which the lyrics also explore in some way. My vocal delivery gives the perception that I’m descending into a type of madness. This is purposeful and something Zein (Checri, producer) and I worked on together in the studio.”
