All six episodes of Bookish season 2 are now available to stream, with the final case seeing Book and Jack travel to Germany in search of answers as to just what happened to Felix.

The finale brings to a close some hanging plot threads which have run across all 12 episodes thus far, while setting the stage for this year's already confirmed two-part Christmas special.

But will there be a third season beyond that, what do we know about it thus far, and who from the cast would be likely to return for more mysteries on Archangel Lane?

Will there be a Bookish season 3?

There will! It was confirmed in August 2026, ahead of the second season airing, that the show would be returning for a two-part Christmas special at the end of that year, followed by a full third season in 2027.

Production on season 3 is set to begin later in 2026, with storylines and guest stars set to be revealed in the coming months.

Gatiss had previously revealed at the at the start of the year that he was already writing season 3.

"That might be an exclusive, I don't know," Gatiss acknowledged, before saying that future episodes "would involve books. And murder – never theft."

When could Bookish season 3 be released?

We don't yet know exactly when Bookish season 3 will be released, but we do know that is expected some time in 2027.

Season 1 aired on U&Alibi in July 2025, while season 2 aired on the channel in August of the following year. While things could of course change for season 3, it currently seems as though the show is a summer treat (barring the upcoming Christmas specials), so a summer 2027 release date seems likely.

We will keep this page updated as and when we get more concrete news regarding season 3's release date.

Who could return to star in Bookish season 3?

We know that Mark Gatiss will certainly be back as Gabriel Book in Bookish season 3, given that the show is his creation.

We are also currently expecting other major figures such as Polly Walker as Trottie, Elliot Level as Inspector Bliss, Blake Harrison as Sergeant Morris and Buket Kömür as Nora to be back, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Other stars who could return as their supporting characters include the likes of Rupert Graves, Youssef Kerkour, Rosie Cavaliero and Nadia Albina, while a host of guest stars will no doubt be announced to join the show in due course.

One major star from seasons 1 and 2 who we are currently not expecting to return is Connor Finch as Jack. The end of season 2 appeared to write his character out of the show, as he joined up with Simon Callow's mysterious E and British intelligence, in order to avoid his penance for accidentally killing his villainous grandfather.
