was granted an audience with during his stay in Rome.

The songwriter is touring across Europe, and when the itinerary reached Rome he was seemingly invited to meet Pope Leo XIV.

The Chicago born Pope is apparently an admirer of Dylan’s work, and quoted lyrics from 1963 anti-nuclear rarity ‘Go Away You Bomb’ in the preface to his book Disarmed and Disarming: Peace Is a Gift.

The meeting was short, with Bob Dylan dressed almost entirely in black, including a hoodie. Leo presented the Nobel laureate with a rosary and Dylan gifted Leo a copy of his autobiography, Chronicles: Volume One.

This is actually the second time Bob Dylan has met a Pope – he performed for Pope John Paul II in 1997 during an event in Bologna.
