Netflix has confirmed that Black Mirror is officially back in production, with the eighth season of Charlie Brooker's dystopian anthology now filming in the UK.
The streamer confirmed the news to Variety, revealing that shooting began over the summer, although no launch date has been set. It marks a swift turnaround for a series that once endured a four-year hiatus between seasons: season 7 only arrived on Netflix in April 2025.
Of course, as of now, there's no confirmed release date so we very well could still be looking at a bit of a wait – nevertheless, it's an exciting update as fans will know what's surely soon to come.
That's right, with production under way, it's only a matter of time before the slew of exciting cast announcements, and with plenty of high-profile names having graced previous seasons, we're looking forward to seeing who will be starring in the new episodes.
Brooker promised that the series will "be more Black Mirror than ever" when the renewal was announced earlier this year. With the last season including the show's first direct sequel in USS Callister: Into Infinity, as well as season 6 including a Red Mirror episode, there's really no telling what direction Black Mirror will go in – but something tells us it's bound to only get better and more on-the-nose about some of life's more dystopian happenings..

As with every run, plot details are being kept firmly under wraps. However, filming has been spotted in the coastal village of Hope Cove in Devon, where Hope Cove House has been dressed and renamed the Sandcastle Hotel for the shoot, and Brooker himself was seen on location.
The confirmation came as Netflix announced a wave of other UK renewals, including second seasons of Neil Forsyth's undercover-customs drama Legends and the reality series Being Gordon Ramsay, plus a third season of The Gentlemen (which may or may not be starring Meghan Markle).
