debuted their incoming triple album ‘Horsepower’ in Nashville over the weekend.

The ever-productive group have spoken about new material, with Big Thief sharing the celebrated LP ‘Double Infinity’ just last year. The release was the American band’s first as a trio, and it was followed by a solo album from Buck Meek.

Recently playing a live session for , Big Thief debuted a new song, and discussed their creative processes.

Over the weekend Big Thief took control of the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville – dubbed the Mother Church of Country Music as it hosted the Grand Ol’ Opry for four decades – to perform their new album.

The new album is a triple LP called ‘Horsepower’ – although Big Thief played it out of sequence, each of the project’s 29 songs were performed.

Guests included Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, and Iris DeMent, while the extended band featured Russ Pahl and Greg Leisz on pedal steel and guitar, and Hannah Read, Richard Bowden, and Zosha Warpeha on fiddle.

Introducing the record, Adrianne Lenker joked: “If you had some hopes of hearing some of the songs you might know—those can also be discarded.” 

No word yet on a ‘Horsepower’ release date – we live in hope!
