fans have taken to social media after an “uncomfortable” conversation took place last night (4 October) about the trans community.
Twinks, who joined the house on Friday night (2 October) with fellow latecomer Catrin, opened up to her fellow contestants about her views on LGBTQ+ rights.
, who is openly gay, spoke to Twinks about pronouns. “Me growing up my generation it was him and her. Now everything is different,” he said.
Philip and Twinks discuss gender expression on
When Twinks asked him to clarify whether his problem lay with gender expression, he replied: “Just not that, everything. you can’t talk about nothing.”
“If you want to be classed as a fridge, your classed as a fridge,” he said.
“Fundamentally, we all know who we are, what we identify as, how we define ourselves, and it is no one else’s business to tell you who you are, what your sexuality is… And we should never assume who anyone is until they tell you,” Twinks said.
Omar asks about trans women using women’s toilets
The fashion designer then got onto the topic of the trans community by bringing up her mother, who she said has become an amazing ally.
Housemate Omar then chimed in, sparking a debate about trans people using single-sex toilets. The conversation follows the April 2025 Supreme Court ruling, which determined that “woman” should be defined by biological sex under the Equality Act 2010.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission later issued final guidance on how organisations should approach the ruling, advising that, in certain circumstances, single-sex services should be provided on the basis of biological sex, as well as providing a third space for trans people.
Omar asked Twinks: “Let’s say you’re at a restaurant. There’s two bathrooms. A boy bathroom, a girl bathroom. Now, a transgender man, who became a woman, walks into the girl bathroom, and there’s obviously quite a few girls in there, and the girls feel uncomfortable. How do you deal with a situation like that?”
“Our government is obsessed with genitals” – Twinks backs trans rights
“Our government is obsessed with genitals. It is ridiculous,” said Twinks, who is bisexual, saying that establishments can offer a gender-neutral space to trans people.
, who has been at the centre of several controversies this season, said: “I wouldn’t be happy with a transgender in the toilet with me.” To which Phillip said was understandable.
Twinks brought up “community”, saying: “If you think beyond yourself and beyond people whose experiences you have… if you think about the LGBTQIA+ community, which is so expansive and so included and so beautiful, but also, we can have infighting,” comparing it to religious communities standing up for one another.
Twinks says she believes trans women should be able to compete in women’s sports
She also said she believes trans women should have the right to compete in women’s sports: “That’s my belief, because you are a trans woman. You are a woman, and I believe that you should be able to compete alongside your gender.”
The conversation caused several members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to speak out on social media, dubbing the scene “uncomfortable”.
Former housemate who uses they/them pronouns, called out Phillip on social media: “You are a gay man and you are pressed about people who call themselves they/them. Get a fucking life.”
Big Brother alum , who is trans, called out Rochelle in the comments section. “Would love to see Rochelle’s face when she realises that her logic means she wants me in the same bathroom as her,” he wrote.
