Mitcham riser has shared his new EP ‘Maria’ in full.

The South London artist caught our attention with a string of singles, blending murky alt-soul with shards of electronics. Peppering DSPs with summer odes such as ‘mitcham mint‘, ‘too many days i’ve spent waiting‘, and ‘does it still rain‘, his new EP is now online in full. 

‘Maria’ is a remarkably confident project, with Beastie defining his aesthetic from the ground up. You can make out aspects of Alex G style acoustic guitars in his bedroom, a kind of indie-soul experience that refuses easy definitions.

Remaining completely true to himself, the nine-track EP is shot through with KeiyaA style electronics, while the songwriting also feels reminiscent of King Krule in places.

Speaking about the project, BEASTIE shares, “I wanted to make something that encapsulated the chaos and beauty of the place I call home. To let people see Mitcham through my lens, to feel all the moments, questions and emotions that moulded who I am. Looking back and seeing yourself through the fog. That is ‘maria’.”
