The BBC has released a first-look image showing Edward Bluemel taking on the iconic role of Hercule Poirot in the upcoming six-part reboot of Agatha Christie's iconic stories.
The image has been released as the series, Hercule, has begun filming in Liverpool, and it shows Bluemel dressed as the character, stood against a grey background.
The series has been described as "an intimate study of Hercule Poirot the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars", as it will centre around three of Christie’s early stories, while also introducing Hercule Poirot to future friends and allies and one particular nemesis.
As was previously announced, the show's supporting cast will include Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), James D'Arcy (Oppenheimer), Calvin Demba (Supacell), Phil Dunning (Smoggie Queens) and Jack Gleeson (House of Guinness).
Tamsin Greig (Riot Women), James Nesbitt (Run Away), Guy Remmers (The Buccaneers), Rebecca Rittenhouse (His & Hers) and Mawaan Rizwan (The Split Up) will also star.

The series is written by Benji Walters (Code of Silence), with Jonny Campbell, Chanya Button and Alrick Riley set to direct. It will be released on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and on BritBox in North America, in 2027.
When Bluemel's cast was first announced in June, James Prichard, executive producer for Agatha Christie Limited, said in a statement: "My father had the privilege of working with David Suchet for nearly 25 years, and I now have the good fortune of being able to share my great grandmother’s brilliant stories with a new generation of viewers.
"Edward Bluemel is an extremely talented performer and will make a great addition to the long line of actors that have played this celebrated character, aided and abetted by Benji Walters's thoughtful scripts. I cannot wait to see Edward on screen as Hercule Poirot."
