ITV has officially confirmed I'm a Celebrity... The Wild Frontier, a spin-off series set in the Canadian wilderness that will launch on ITV1 and ITVX in 2027.

The announcement comes after months of reports about a Canadian spin-off, which ITV had not previously confirmed.

While part of the I'm a Celebrity franchise, the show will feature a major twist: celebrities will compete in pairs rather than as individuals. Duos might consist of two celebrities together, a celebrity and a family member, or a celebrity and their best friend. But more crucially, they will eat, compete and are eliminated together as one.

Following the announcement, Ant said: "This brand new series is I'm a Celebrity like you've never seen before. It's a brand new format with lots of twists and surprises."

Dec added: "We're also making sure to retain some of the elements that we know viewers love from the Australian series. Buckle up, it's going to be brilliant."

Set across the untamed wilderness of Canada, the series will see pairings undertake gruelling trials and action-packed challenges to win food, all aiming to become the last pair standing. After weeks of shocks and survival, viewers will decide the overall winners, casting the final vote in a live grand final broadcast direct from London.

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's director of entertainment, reality and daytime, said: "The format takes duos to the most spectacular locations in Canada. The duos enter as a pair, play as a pair and leave as a pair. With all the brilliant DNA of I'm a Celebrity, brand new gameplay and the dynamics of living and playing with your spouse, best mate or sibling, it promises to be a treat for audiences in 2027."

Chantal Boyle, creative director at Lifted Entertainment, said the Australian series "holds a special place with its incredibly loyal UK fans", adding that the new show "promises to be dramatic, exciting and truly embrace its spectacular Canadian setting".

Companion show I'm a Celebrity...Unpacked will return on ITV2, airing directly after each main episode on ITV1. It will also be available as a vodcast on ITVX, Spotify and YouTube, with an audio-only version on major podcast platforms. A special live Unpacked episode will follow the live ITV1 grand final.
