The 2026 Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase took place last night, featuring a number of game announcements and updates – check out the best bits below:
The big news is that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a huge remaster. The free upgrade goes live September 29 and will bring a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay. Players will also be able to access the and DLCs for free ahead of the upcoming expansion, which is due to launch next year.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live, a new trailer for the DLC was also shared, giving fans a proper look at the brand new region of Letten. “This idyllic land is rich in rural tradition and folklore, and its people enjoy a fulfilling life of bountiful harvests and lavish festivals. But a dark secret lurks just beneath the surface, and Geralt must overcome never-before-seen foes as he fights to overcome its long-dormant evil,” explains a press release.
Elsewhere, it was announced that viral hit game (which is also one of the best-reviewed games of 2026) is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 next month (September 8).
We also got a better look at the future of Crimson Desert. The team are looking to fix a number of issues with the game’s sprawling, occasionally-awkward campaign storyline with a new “enhanced” update which goes live later today (August 26). The free update will add new cutscenes and “story moments” to the main questline, as well as German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese voiceover support
A new trailer for prequel revealed more about the game’s campaign mode, which will “tell the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera” and act as an origin story for favourites Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, ahead of its release on October 6.
Angela Sant’Albano AKA Grace Ashcroft from was announced as the star of Tides of Annihilation, a new fantasy-action game set in a dystopian version of London.
We also got new trailers for (which launches September 24, 2026), Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy (which is out tomorrow, August 27), (also out September 24) and , which launches early 2027.
developers HoyoHerse gave fans their first look at , a mature fantasy role-playing game that looks similar to . There’s no release date yet but it appears you can tackle the mythical land with a friend in co-op mode.
As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, new game will launch in October and feature four musical stages – one inspired by the ‘Macarana’, another by MC Hammer’s ‘U Can’t Touch This’.
Lego fans can also look forward to building the town of their dreams with , a new game from the creators of popular citybuilder series Cities: Skylines. “In this cozy, customisable city-builder, your choices bring a living, breathing metropolis to life. Go big or obsess over the details. No instructions. Unlimited space. And there’s just one rule. Make it yours,” reads an official description. There’s no release date yet though.
In other news, ’s spiritual successor is set to launch later this year with more than 90 songs on the soundtrack.
