The record documents shows in support of their debut album Pain to Power, released in September 2025. The Manchester four-piece – Harry Wilkinson (vocals/guitar), Joseph Carroll (saxophone), Matt Buonaccorsi (bass), and Jacob Hayes (drums) – recorded the live set during a period of heavy touring. In a statement, they said 2025 was “a beautiful and brutal year”, with Pain to Power written and released alongside playing 109 shows.
They went on to address burnout: “We also feel a responsibility to speak honestly about the realities of this industry and the toll it takes on musicians. Navigating the industry’s many challenges while living our own complex lives led us to burnout at the end of 2025.” Maruja returned to live work in 2026, playing rescheduled dates, festivals, and events including Jeremy Corbyn’s Bulletproof Festival and the 100 Club’s 50th anniversary of punk.
The band said the live album is "a thank you to those who support us but have never seen us live and gives them a chance to witness the energy of our shows."
Maruja have announced 2027 live dates including Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse on 30 April with GOAT, and Primavera Sound in Porto on 27 June.
