Formed and developed by 88rising – the US label that works primarily with Asian and Asian-American talent – the group and its members Baila, Christy, Esther and Shaz are being billed as Indonesian's first global girl group. Each member is from a different part of the country to reflect, the label says, Indonesia's cultural and regional diversity, with their name a play on , an Indonesian word meaning miss.
The 15-track takes its names from the group's self-labelled genre of Island Pop, which blends the tropical warmth of Indonesia with '80s R&B, synth-funk and new jack swing.
"speaker freaker (the long song)" – a nearly 15-minute musical and visual medley – blends eight songs, including the viral hit ‘rollerblade,’ ‘work’ and seven previously unheard tracks from the album. Since releasing their first single in May last year, no na have racked up more than half a billion streams, with more than 1.1 billion views on YouTube and nearly five billion on TikTok.
