It’s an emotional farewell to actress Mollie Gallagher and her Coronation Street alter-ego Nina Lucas, who swaps the cobbles of Weatherfield for the Goth capital of Britain – Whitby.

Let’s face it, there’s no better place for her than this Yorkshire seaside town.

In a callback to the tragic death of her late boyfriend Seb, which was inspired by the real-life Sophie Lancaster case, Nina and his mum Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) reflect on their loss and say a tearful goodbye in the memorial garden.

Elsewhere, there's some unsettling news discovered by Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell), Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) suffers a setback, Debbie Webster's (Sue Devaney) memory is worsening and Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) swoops in on Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

1. Nina Lucas bids farewell to Weatherfield

Nina gathers Abi, Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) at the Rovers for one final drink before leaving Weatherfield.

After an emotional farewell with Abi in Seb’s memorial garden, Nina says her goodbyes to her friends and prepares to head off to Whitby with uncle Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

2. Celeste's death brings a troubling discovery to the Winter family

Tempers flare when Gemma confronts Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) over the way he has treated George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). He hits back with a cruel suggestion that she should pay a visit to her dying aunt.

Gemma tracks Celeste down, but their awkward meeting takes a horrifying turn when her condition suddenly deteriorates. Todd arrives moments after Gemma has left and, following a bitter confrontation with Celeste (Frances Barber), storms away.

Later, Gemma spots paramedics racing into her aunt's room at the Chariot Square Hotel. She then breaks the news to mum Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) – Celeste is dead. But her death leaves the family facing a shocking secret.

Meanwhile, George is preparing himself to tell Todd – who is late for work – what has happened. When Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) suggests everyone should pull together and support him over dinner, reminding him that he has plenty of good friends around him, the idea gets the backing of the group.

Todd eventually heads to the hotel to see Celeste, unaware that she has already died. Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) is left to deliver the news.

Gemma later confides in Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) about Celeste’s death and tells him the truth about a family discovery she's made. Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) also finds Bernie in tears in the Rovers’ backyard and attempts to offer her some comfort.

As the news sends shockwaves through the Winter-Brown family, Gemma struggles to contain her own emotions but it clear to Bernie that she will stand by her side whatever happens.

What is it that's troubling them?

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) then opens up to Gemma about her concerns over Kit’s increasingly erratic behaviour. Realising she can no longer keep quiet, Gemma steels herself and tells Bethany about the astonishing truth they have uncovered.

At the hotel, a hungover Todd begins sorting through Celeste’s belongings. Among her possessions, he discovers a letter addressed to him.

Todd later explains to George that Celeste left specific instructions about what should happen after her death. She did not want a funeral. Instead, she wanted her loved ones to celebrate her life with a party in her memory.

Todd, Bernie, Kit, Gemma, Chesney Winter-Brown (Sam Aston), Joseph Brown (William Flanagan), Dev, George, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) and Asha gather in the hotel bar for the emotional remembrance gathering. Todd reads out a message left behind by Celeste, giving everyone a final glimpse into her thoughts.

3. Brian Packham and Maggie Driscoll's fling is hot gossip

Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment) wastes no time spreading the word when he tells Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) and Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) that their passionate encounter has become the latest gossip doing the rounds at the factory.

4. There's a heated confrontation between Ronnie Bailey and Idris Nazir

Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) takes an interest in Idris Nazir’s (Junade Khan) car and admits to Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) that he is considering stealing it for Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer). He feels he owes her after what happened with the missing gun.

Later, in the Rovers, Carl hands Ronnie the keys to Idris’s car, having managed to steal them from his jacket. The question now is whether Ronnie will actually carry out the plan.

Idris soon discovers that his car has disappeared and admits that he cannot even remember where he left his key. His suspicions quickly turn towards Ronnie.

The accusation soon becomes physical as Idris punches Ronnie to the floor. Carl urges Ronnie to forget about revenge, insisting that Debbie needs peace and stability rather than another crisis.

5. Betsy Swain is lonely following her stroke

Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) pays Betsy a visit, but Betsy is left frustrated when she spends much of their time messaging Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike). Feeling increasingly isolated, Betsy admits to mum Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) that she is lonely.

With her physiotherapist helping her, Betsy manages something remarkable – she gets to her feet for the first time since suffering her stroke.

Lauren later suggests that she and Ollie should visit Betsy and take along some of his cake. But when the pair arrive, Betsy is left wondering how she will react to the unexpected situation.

Lauren eventually decides enough is enough and tells her friend that she is taking her out for lunch.

Their trip to the bistro takes an embarrassing turn when Betsy accidentally knocks cutlery from the table. Lauren immediately rushes to help, but Debbie's unknowing joke that Betsy has been drinking leaves her utterly mortified.

6. Debbie Webster's condition is worsening

Ronnie offers to take care of the supplier meeting, but as Debbie gets ready to leave, he gently points out that she has forgotten to put her shoes on.

At the hotel, Ronnie realises Debbie is still wandering around in her slippers. She looks down at her feet before suggesting that perhaps it is time they headed home.

Things become even more troubling when Debbie turns up while Ryan is having a manicure from Bethany. She appears to be transported back to her days working in a hair salon.

Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) returns to find Debbie enthusiastically giving Bethany a full-on 1980s makeover. Bethany plays along, but the situation becomes alarming when Debbie picks up the scissors. Maria quickly intervenes and takes control of the situation.

Debbie stares at the scissors in confusion before suddenly rushing out.

Ronnie later finds Debbie drinking in the hotel bar. She gives him short shrift, but her mood soon spirals into a full-blown meltdown.

Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and Abi subsequently take Debbie out for lunch, hoping to discuss plans for her birthday. After hearing about her latest embarrassing incident involving Betsy, Ronnie suggests that they might need to scale back Debbie's grand party plans.

7. Jodie Ramsey sets her sights on Kit Green

Jodie returns from court and breaks the news to Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) and Bethany that she has been handed a community service order for assaulting Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), and will now spend her time on litter-picking duty.

With David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) away, Shona is already struggling. Harper refuses to settle, Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) is testing her patience and Jodie is doing little to make matters easier.

While carrying out her community service, Jodie overhears Bethany arranging a date. She cannot resist making a cutting remark, but Bethany gives as good as she gets and puts her firmly in her place.

Smarting from the encounter, Jodie turns her attention to Kit. She suggests they go on a date and promises that he will have the time of his life!

Shona later panics when she notices a rash on Harper, only to discover that the baby is simply teething. But her relief does not last long. When Jodie announces that she has arranged a date with Kit, she's horrified, and points out that she's stabbing Sarah in the back.

Bethany, meanwhile, meets Roman in the bistro. The pair toast their successful second date, pleased that this time there has been no drama. Their peace is shattered when Jodie walks in with Kit.

Bethany explains the situation, revealing that her mum is in prison and that she only split from Kit a few weeks earlier. As Jodie turns on the charm with Kit, Bethany's temper finally snaps.

She later warns him that Jodie is toxic and tells him to keep his distance. But once Bethany has gone, Jodie invites Kit back for a nightcap.

Later in the week and back at No. 8, Jodie adds to Shona's mounting stress by secretly hiding her car keys. Clearly amused by her own handiwork, she then sends Kit a message suggesting they have another date.

Shona calls David to tell him about the nightmare she has endured, only to realise with horror that she has left Harper inside the car. She races outside in a panic and discovers Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) there, cradling Harper.

Jodie tells Shona that she needs to get some sleep and offers to look after Harper while she rests. But when she eventually returns downstairs, she finds her sister and Kit sitting together over a glass of wine.

Taking a seat on the sofa, Shona delivers a stark warning to Kit: getting involved with her sister could turn out to be the worst decision he has ever made!
