The downfall of enigmatic Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) has arrived in Coronation Street, and a vicious argument with sister Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) leads to a gunshot sounding across the cobbles of Weatherfield.
The situation has spiralled beyond control, with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) scrambling to help the casualty who has collapsed on the floor of his living room.
Conveniently placed copper Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) jumps into action to investigate the shooting, while in the Rovers, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) fear that the weapon used was the same one that they lost some time ago. But who was shot, and will they survive?
Elsewhere on the street, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) crumbles under the weight of keeping daughter Rachel's death to herself, and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) is warned about her new fella.
Plus, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) prepares to start his chemotherapy, and Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) attempts to steal Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) bank card.

5 Coronation Street spoilers for next week
1. A gunshot is fired at the Platts after a confrontation
David reveals that Doug Ramsey (Steve Evets) has taken both the toaster and the biscuit tin, but Jodie quickly plays down his behaviour. She insists that her dad probably just needs his medication adjusted.
Meanwhile, Shona confides in Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) that she’s becoming increasingly worried about her own state of mind. She admits that she keeps hearing Harper crying even when the baby isn’t there.
Jodie’s concerns about Doug soon escalate when she contacts his doctor and claims that he poses a danger to the family. A mental health team arrives to assess Doug, leaving Shona devastated. As he's taken away, Shona tearfully apologises to him.
But before he leaves, Doug delivers a chilling warning, telling Shona to watch her back when it comes to Jodie.
Later, Bethany catches Jodie red-handed – but Jodie is quick to come up with a plan of her own to ensure Bethany keeps quiet. Jodie later returns home carrying Shona’s birthday cake, only to find her sister frantically searching through the living room.
Shona explains that she has heard Harper crying again, but this time there was something different about it. She insists the sound seemed more like a recording than a real baby crying.
Later, as David and Jodie begin decorating the Bistro for Shona’s birthday celebrations, Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) arrives. The teenager connects her phone to the docking station, and the room is suddenly filled with the unmistakable sound of Harper crying.
Shona is horrified and immediately accuses her step-daughter of recording the baby in an attempt to convince her that she’s losing her mind. Lily vehemently denies knowing how the recording ended up on her phone, but she’s left so upset that she flees the party.
As tensions between Shona and Jodie reach breaking point, long-held accusations come spilling out and dark secrets are exposed. The confrontation takes a terrifying turn when a weapon is produced.
Suddenly, a gunshot rings out. As the dust settles, one person is left stricken and the family looks on in horror. But who has been shot, and will they survive?
A flash-forward reveals the aftermath at No. 8, where belongings are scattered across the living room as a paramedic tends to a casualty on the floor. David calls for an ambulance and tells the emergency services that someone has been shot.
Paramedics arrive alongside an armed police officer, while Lisa begins questioning David about exactly what happened.
Meanwhile, in the Rovers, Kevin and Ronnie discuss the shocking incident and wonder whether the weapon could be the gun once owned by Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer)... a firearm that was never recovered.
2. Christina Boyd takes Rachel Parkinson's ashes
Christina watches as Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin) heads towards the Metcalfes' house, but partner George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) urges her to be careful. She ignores his warning, puts on a brave face and heads over to see Lucy.
Later, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) calls into the café and is less than impressed when she discovers that her foster daughter has skipped school and is enjoying a drink with Christina. Sally orders Lucy home before sitting down opposite Christina.
Although she agrees to speak to social services and follow their advice, she makes her position very clear – until then, Christina must keep her distance from Lucy. Sally stresses that the teenager is incredibly vulnerable and that she needs to be protected.
The next day, George and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) are thrown into a panic at the undertakers when they discover that Rachel’s ashes have disappeared – and Christina is nowhere to be found.
George eventually tracks Christina down sitting on the swings in the precinct, clutching the urn containing Rachel’s ashes. He gently reassures her that they can find their own way to honour Rachel, prompting Christina to finally hand over the urn.
In a touching gesture, George then gives Christina a photo frame containing two pictures, one of Rachel and one of younger daughter Daisy (Charlotte Jordan).
3. Summer Spellman ignores her loved ones' warnings about Marco Rhodes
Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) receives a devastating phone call informing her that prospective new partner Marco Rhodes (Will Teasdale) has been involved in a car accident. She rushes to Weathy A&E, where PC Jess Heywood (Donna-Leigh Bailey) approaches her with more information.
Summer learns that Marco was involved in the RTC while acting as the getaway driver.
Later, a despondent Summer reveals in the shop that Marco has been denied bail. Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and Todd attempt to convince her that she would be better off without him, but their comments clearly hit a nerve.
When she receives a visiting order from Marco in prison, Todd does his best to conceal his reservations and offers to drive her there. But will Summer listen to those around her, or remain determined to stand by Marco?
4. Sam Blakeman steals Idris Nazir's bank card
Sam calls at Speed Daal after school, where Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) gives him an opportunity to regain her trust by working in the restaurant.
The youngster spies Idris’s credit card lying on a table, and later emerges from the restaurant holding it. Before he has opportunity to enter the details into a crypto app, Idris suddenly appears behind him and retrieves the bank card from him.
Deeply embarrassed, Sam explains how he was hoping to scrape back the cash to pay both him back and pay off his debt to dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
5. Kit Green confides in Lisa Connor-Swain
DC McLaughlin (Michelle Tate) tells Lisa that Kit has called in sick for the third time in the same week. Lisa’s attention is soon diverted when she receives a report of a shooting on Coronation Street and rushes to the scene.
Meanwhile, Kit is in hospital, where a nurse talks him through the side effects of his chemotherapy treatment. She urges him to speak to his boss, warning that he simply isn’t well enough to continue working as normal.
Kit later heads to the police station, where he finds Lisa furiously typing up her notes. She rounds on him for repeatedly failing to answer her calls, but Kit then reveals the devastating truth – he has stage three cancer.
Lisa is stunned by the revelation, and determined to support her colleague, promises him that she and the force will do everything they can to help him through his treatment.
