The drama continues in Coronation Street next week, as Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) opens up to one resident about his breast cancer diagnosis.

It's an unlikely friendship that is formed, but with Kit reluctant to burden his family with the news, he takes comfort in the resident's kindness.

There's a shock arrival for Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) - her dad, Doug (Steve Evets). But what are they hiding?

Meanwhile, Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) receives a much-needed boost, but worries that her health is declining, and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) has more problems with troubled Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin).

1. Kit Green confides in Todd Grimshaw about his breast cancer diagnosis

Kit’s troubled state of mind becomes increasingly apparent when, at his flat, someone quietly slips out of the bedroom and creeps past him as he sleeps on the sofa before making their escape.

He eventually wakes and his gaze settles on a photograph of himself with Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien). As guilt washes over him, he struggles to hide the weight of what’s on his mind.

Later, Kit heads to the Rovers, only to find Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) birthday celebrations already well underway. Determined not to let his troubles spoil the occasion, he forces a smile and announces that he’s ready to join the festivities. However, his heavy drinking soon catches mum Bernie Winter-Alahan’s (Jane Hazlegrove) attention.

Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) later finds Kit alone in the backyard and wastes no time in asking what is really troubling him.

Things then take a turn when Kit accidentally bumps into Ross inside the pub, sending Ross’s drinks flying. Kit suddenly grabs his chest in pain, but Ross dismisses his reaction as an over-the-top performance.

Kit snaps, losing his temper as tensions boil over.

The following day, Kit once again opens up to Todd. Concerned by what he’s seeing, he urges him to stop keeping everything bottled up and be honest with his family about what is really going on.

2. Debbie Webster is thrilled by her birthday surprise

As her birthday celebrations continue, Debbie takes the opportunity to make an emotional speech, expressing her gratitude to the friends and family who have supported her.

Her words become particularly heartfelt when she turns her attention to husband Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), giving him a special thank-you and openly proclaiming him to be the love of her life.

Kit listens from nearby, but Debbie’s declaration strikes a painful chord as he struggles to contain his own emotions.

3. Jodie Ramsey and Shona Platt's dad, Doug, returns

Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) is visibly emotional when husband David (Jack P. Shepherd) finally returns home. During lunch, he reassures her that she’s a fantastic mum and promises that, from now on, they’ll face the pressures of parenthood together.

Meanwhile, Jodie listens to a message from Kit telling her that he no longer wants to see her. Clearly furious, she conceals her anger before heading out.

She later lets herself into Sarah’s flat and begins looking around. Her snooping is interrupted when she hears Kit and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) forcing her to quickly find somewhere to hide.

While hiding, she notices Harry Platt’s (Joshua Leavy) height markings on the wall and deliberately rubs some of them away. But it’s what she hears next that leaves her completely stunned.

Later, Bethany is visibly uncomfortable when Jodie arrives for a manicure. Her suspicions grow when she casually reveals that she has arranged to visit her mum.

At the prison, Jodie comes face-to-face with Sarah and apologises for attacking her. But she then warns Sarah that there’s something she needs to know.

Bethany subsequently makes her own nervous visit, unaware of exactly what Jodie may have told her.

Determined to confront Jodie, Bethany heads to No. 8, but their showdown is interrupted by an unexpected arrival at the door – Jodie’s dad.

Meanwhile, Shona admits to Carla that she’s concerned David no longer trusts her to be alone with their daughter.

Things take an even stranger turn in the café when one of the mums from the baby group mistakes Jodie for Shona. Rather than correct her, Jodie happily goes along with the misunderstanding.

Her deception becomes harder to maintain when Doug arrives. Jodie quickly invents an excuse to explain the situation, but Shona is left stunned when she comes face-to-face with her own dad.

Doug explains that he’s back on his medication, has his bipolar disorder under control and wants the chance to repair their fractured relationship.

Jodie makes her feelings perfectly clear to Doug, warning him not to interfere or upset the fragile balance of things. But when Jodie casts an unmistakable longing glance towards David, Doug watches on, deeply unsettled by what he’s witnessing.

4. Betsy Swain looks to her future - but worries about her health

Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) pays Betsy a visit and admits that he feels absolutely awful about everything that has happened.

Later, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) shows Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) details of a fashion course at a local college which she thinks could be ideal for Betsy. Carla is touched by Sally’s suggestion and promises to investigate it further.

She subsequently agrees to support Betsy with her application, giving her something positive to focus on. Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) is delighted to see her daughter suddenly showing renewed enthusiasm for the future.

Betsy gets another boost when Bethany turns up to give her a manicure, with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) having arranged the surprise to help lift her spirits.

But the happy moment is abruptly shattered when Betsy suddenly grabs her head in pain and fears that she could be suffering another stroke.

5. Lucy Parkinson is a cause for concern

Tim is taken aback when Lucy reveals that she has no intention of attending her mum’s funeral.

After eventually returning from the service, Lucy admits that she only went because she had hoped her dad would be there - and is bitterly disappointed that he wasn’t.

Lucy later secretly hands Shanice (Molly Kilduff) some money and encourages her to head to The Kabin to buy herself some sweets. When Shanice protests that she isn’t allowed to go out alone, Lucy assures her that she’ll keep quiet about it.

However, Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) soon returns with Shanice and explains to Sally that the youngster apparently went into the Kabin by herself.

Sally immediately begins to suspect that Lucy had something to do with it, and with her clearly harbouring a plan of her own, it seems this is only the beginning of her latest scheme.
